While there are credible CU atgletic sites reporting Morris

asked for the buyout to be lowered so he could take the OC job at Texas, I just don't buy it. Here's why:
Texas could care less what his buyout is. When have they worried about money?
Sorry folks, this one just doesn't add up. While it makes sense that CCM would want to go back to his home state, I get caught up on this one detail. No way the Horns ask for a buyout reduction IF that's who they really want.
Supposedly this leaked from the CUAD. I don't buy it.

plus the salary for an OC that'd jump in 2 years to HC position.

depends on what other guarantees tejas would exact...

you can always protect your investment just as swinney and clemson have in this "supposed" case.
deer lowered man, do you think clemson is going to pay someone $1.3mil a year and not protect it?
tejas was well within their ability & right to do the same.
if things are as they say AND if morris REALLY wanted to go, there are other ways to make it happen including a buyout for a head coaching job with understandings the up front $5mil buyout would be paid back if he leaves in a pre-determined time frame with that supposed ROI in mind.
this is big business, this ain't these people's first rodeo and they didn't get where they are without making the magic happen.
limited thinking is limited.

Wonder what's happening during his interviews? Others being hired and he's getting the shaft? Is he a bad interview? Is his base salary too much for some jobs he was interested in? Meaning more than likely he would have to take a pay cut in order to coach at Arky State or another comparable school.

Malzhan took a big cut going to Arky St
have to do it for the HC experience. It isn;t like you taking a cut from 135K to 80 K and have to have the money or don't take the job, Morris has made 1.3 mil he will be fine to go make 500K at a mid major until he gets the 4 mil contract at a big school
I think MAC or WAC school is where he ends up
Unless Clemson wins nat champ or he scores 50 on FSU and USC that will turn some heads at decent schools otherwise he will be overlooked by Vandy and NC St type schools

I agree but do we know if he's willing to take that pay cut? If yes, what's happening in those interviews where he ISN'T getting the job?????

directly out of hs, then one year removed he earned the clemson job.
everything else seems assumption based on speculation including your "what's happening" question.

Texas might have a lot of money but that does not mean they are willing to throw it away. The above poster was on point by saying the buyout was too high given CCM's likely departure in a year or two. Said another way, the ROI was too low given the risk involved.

He is a aTm alum, if it was aTm that came calling he'd be gone. That would be like Dabo leaving clemson for auburn

The only place I saw it was a Clemson site
Now the Vandy down to Mason and Morris was more credible due to being on numerous sports websites with people close tot he situation.
Think Mort and the other NFL guy on ESPN. "We have sources close tot he situation that say Tom Brady was indeed sick with the flu and missed practice".
Then we see Brday at a press conference saying he was sick wit the flu
These guys national guys have a reputation to keep up with and they are only paid tons due to their contacts and ability to keep things quiet until it can all come out publicly.
Fact Morris will be Clemson's OC this year anything else I guess we can all wonder about. The idiots who say Clemson is too big a deal for him to go to lowly VAndy need to be a bit more rational. He wants to be a HC and he will jump ship as soon as someone offers that. Look at NC St Texas TEch Arky St Vandy etc He was in the running in all of them and they went the other way. He will take one but still needs some experience

Nobody said Texas couldn't afford his buyout.

The point is that they didn't think he was worth it. That's a ton of money to pay for an offensive coordinator, especially one who clearly wants to be a head coach and is likely to take another job in a year or two. Texas was practicing good business, which you do whether you have money to burn or not.

Clemson was also practicing good business by refusing the request.
