To heck with QB debate. How about this . Feaster or Etienne?

Who starts, and who should get more playing time?

Irrelevant. Having them both is what's important

May 23, 2018, 8:43 AM

Having 2 RBs like them in major CFB is essential these days (see Alabama). They will both get significant carries this year.

Equally valuable so gonna see a lot of both of them.
So glad this isn't another thread about Kmart!

I say its split between Choice, Feaster, and ETN. ETN will get the majority of the snaps though, as I believe he is the best all around back. The guy is a freak and he will only get better. Feaster compliments well with his speed and ability to swing out and catch some passes. Choice adds great depth as he is a solid runner. Im interested to see if they redshirt Dixon or get him some experience here and there.

Don’t sleep on Choice

May 23, 2018, 8:56 AM

This won’t be a two back system, all three will see the field. Also, Choice may be the best at both pass protection and getting the short yards. He’s very good at doing the dirty work in the trenches.

He's the biggest of the three and he has been in the system the longest.

put all three in a wish-bone.***

LY the RB carries were as follows (per sports-reference):

May 23, 2018, 10:11 AM

Feaster - 107 (31.5%)
Etienne - 107 (31.5%)
Choice - 67 (20%)
Fuller - 58 (17%)

I'm not sure we have a 4th guy that the staff really trusts this year so we might see more carries split between Feaster, Etienne, and Choice. They should be able to handle more because Feaster and Etienne carried the ball less than 8 times a game last year (Gallman averaged twice that many carries over the 15-16 seasons). I would kind of expect the split to be around 40-40-20, but if Choice is running well he might get 25-30% of the carries to keep the others fresh. I don't see a clear favorite between Feaster and Etienne and would expect their carries to be pretty even unless Travis just takes it to the next level.

Bryant had 192 carries by the way and that brings up a more interesting question for me. If Trevor Lawrence does take over for KB at some point during the season, do we run the ball less or do we increase the work load for the backs? I know TL has pretty good wheels, but i really can't see the staff running him 13-14 times a game like they did with both Bryant and Watson. At the very least he needs to bulk up a little before carrying the ball that much. I would imagine the answer would be

I think Choice's carries was partially due to his knee

May 23, 2018, 11:25 AM

And not wanting/needing him to do too much all at once. I think he'll get more work, especially if KB doesn't get the start

Easy, let's do what's being done with Bryant's passing...look at the stats.

Total Rushing Yards:
https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/individual/469/p3
Etienne: #103
Feaster: #128
Bryant: #129

Rushing TD's:
https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/individual/750
Etienne: #26
Bryant: #44
Feaster: T-#113 (technically, #122)
Choice: T-#142 (technically, #147)

Rush Yards Per Carry:
https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/individual/907/p4

^ Only one listed in this is Bryant @#157, but that is due to the "Min. 10 rushes per game, Must play in 75% of team's games" rule of that stat, which Etienne must not have qualified one of those for them to rate his. If counting what he did though, he'd have been sitting at #9 in the nation with 7.16 yards per carry (766 yards in 107 carries).

Rushing Yards per Game:
https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/individual/7/p3
Etienne: #121
Feaster # 168
Bryant: #169
