If that is the device I'm thinking about someone using it to get into someone else's hotel room might not even be the worse thing about it given that you use the other locks while you're in the room that device is probably a modified version of this device that was created to scan and store credit cards so the user wouldn't have to carry or use the physical card something like Apple/Android pay and the worst/best part depending on which side of the law you are is that it's open source hardware/code

I was more concerned with finding my missing ; at the time, and you guys should check github that was made for cards with chips.

That’s why we moved to chips. They cannot be replicated.

But it can’t be used without the bank assuming 100% liability. There is no personal info on the mag stripe (ss#, etc).
