Has any one artist milked a song for as long and as successfully as Lee Greenwood?

LOL! My thoughts exactly. He not only jumped on the patriotic bandwagon, he carjacked it and built a huge garage around it.

Agree.... I liked "God Bless the USA" the first thousand times I heard it but really prefer it to be given a rest for a while. That song was played at about 80% of the military functions I attended in my 27 years in the Army. I had to listen to it so many times that I'm rather callous towards it now.
Additionally the lyrics "And I gladly stand up, Next to you and defend her still today" kind of boils my "4th point of contact" because there aren't a lot of Americans beating down the doors to serve in the military (still less than 1% of the population ever serves). This was especially true during the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars where we were struggling to get folks to join. That lyric makes the song lose it's luster when you personally know a bunch of folks having to do multiple combat tours because there is no one else "stepping up".
Sorry for the rant - just tired of that Greenwood song and prefer "God Bless America" much more...

Maybe someday, somewhere, someone will turn the lights on for you. Otherwise, become familiar with the word comrade.

There is clearly a wrong choice. It’s called socialism/communism. That is not who we are and not what many in our history died for.

I thought about Lee Greenwood this morning and hoped he didn't have to sing today. After that horrible caricature of a debate, I think many of us were embarrassed to be Americans the last 24 hours.

I had the great pleasure many years ago to have dinner with Lee and several of the Clemson coaches in a restaurant in Nashville. After dinner we moved to a bar where he took over a piano and we had a private Concert for about 45 minutes. Heck of a guy and a great singer. Something I will never forget.
