Playing The Citadel week 2 per General Walters

Aug 13, 2020, 8:05 PM

My wife and I dropped our knob off this past Saturday morning at The Citadel. In a zoom meeting tonight for parents he announced Citadel would be playing Clemson. Just passing that along.

Yes. He said no conference games and the only game on their schedule as of tonight was Clemson.

I would not play a team that is not instituting safety protocol just as stringent as the ACC. I thought that doing so would be too much of a financial burden of schools like Furman, Wofford, and Citadel and that is why they are not going to play this fall. I would not play them!

Furman is open as of today as well

Aug 14, 2020, 3:26 AM

Their conference announced they can play non conference for money and then play Conference in the spring. That tells me, the conference has zero idea in what to do? Games in Fall, Games in spring, whatever let's us make most money!

You know if the NCAA was as strong as schools thought, this wouldn't be a problem. But it is a problem, because nobody is willing to take a stand!!

I think they probably left that possibility open and not shut the door on OOC games so the schools that had P-5 games already scheduled would still get the cancel fees from those big schools for cancelling those games.

The State and Charleston Post & Courier are also reporting Citadel plans to play a 4 game schedule with Clemson as one of the games.

Citadel has 34 players opt out this year. Not sure they can field a team.
