Is College Gameday avoiding Notre Dame because of NBC?

Oct 23, 2017, 10:53 AM

i thought it was interesting that the better match-up this weekend (in terms of rankings) was (11)USC @ (13)Notre Dame who also happen to be 2 of the biggest brands in College Football, yet CGD went to Penn State. No big deal, PSU/MICH is a big game and has conference implications.

Now Notre Dame wins big, jumps into the Top 10, hosts another Top 15 matchup at home, yet CGD chooses Ohio State(for the 2nd time this year) vs Penn State(last week's CGD host). Again, this is the bigger game no doubt, but i can't help but think that if ND would've been the road team in either of these games(NBC only broadcasts ND home games), it might be different.

They've done ND home games in recent years. I think if all things are equal in their minds they go to games the have the larger story lines concerning conference races and playoffs. If that is still tied then they go with the game they are broadcasting.

So yes Notre Dame is at a disadvantage in both the playoff and the TV deal as it pertains to getting gameday in general.

No I don't think that is the reason this time.

There's something in these hills.

No. 6 Ohio State (6-1, 4-0 Big Ten) kicks off against

No. 2 Penn State (7-0, 4-0) in Ohio Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on FOX.

So no, unless Walt Disney just really hates NBC.

That game is being played at 3:30 because it is on Fox, and Fox has a World Series game on during prime time. Ohio State Penn State would for sure be on primetime if ABC had it

Why would they help promote a competitors? Doing so could

Take viewers away from their games.

Well, the Ohio St vs Penn St game is on FOX.

I'm sure they'll go to ND Miami if both teams are still in Top 10.
