Interceptions

Oct 21, 2019, 11:46 AM

I know you've all seen them and they've been discussed but here's the video of both. The first one is the one that boggles my mind. Although the second one seems worse, it looks like Tee gets mugged and had he not, would have high pointed the pass at the goal line.

Yep, Tee got hammered on that one.

I disagree with your assessment.

Sure he hits a safety in the chest on the first one, but there is only 1 defender in the area and if Amari sees the safety earlier and goes underneath it is likely an incomplete pass at worst.

On the second one, even if Higgins gets to the goalline clean, there are still multiple defenders right where the ball was thrown. If the guy who caught the ball didn't catch it, there was another player sitting there waiting for it. Tee would have had to battle either or both of those guys, plus the guy who was covering him, to make the catch.

In a scenario where both of our WRs get to the perfect spot, pass #1 has a much higher probability of producing a catch.

Etienne was wide open in the right flat for probably
a first down on the second one.

Ross was also open on the right and was calling for the ball

I see all your points and yes there were other options but it appears TL had committed to Tee before he was knocked down (while the ball was in the air). I was trying to think of the number of times Tee has beaten 2 defenders but lost count.
