Would be great to take the BEST from N. Carolina also.

N. Carolina is ACC country. Clemson needs to be know as THE school to play football at if you are a HS football player in the state of N. Carolina.
UGA, SCAR, and the Vols never play games in the state of N. Carolina.

Agree about the Oliver nastiness--looks like he got 2-3 hits on defenders per play when blocking. For my money, I like the MLB. Mastrogiavanni attacks where the ball is headed...exactly what Venables talked about LBs "running down hill". Impressive how he flowed to the ball, shed blockers, and wrapped up while delivering a hit. Solid fundamentals, good looking/good sized MLB. Hope we land him.

My question is who's the QB throwing him the ball? Kid has great touch on the deep balls.

Dallas to Clemson is 903 miles. It would be gravy to pick up some studs from that part of the country. James Trapp was from Oklahoma.
Venables and Morris may be able to pull in a few kids they had a residual relationship with, but Florida through Virginia is where we have gotten and need to continue to get 90% of our players.
Geography matters.
Drawing kids from places far away with bad climates (Buffalo), third world (Obed Ariri and Donald Iguebuike), poverty (Jamaica or American Samoa),and iron curtain (Lithuania) can work if you can just identify the talent.

I tend to agree. OK with me to get one or two from Texas, but never make the mistake to put too much emphasis on the area. No need to repeat Ken Hatfield history.
As you said, geography matters. Many kids want their family to see them play.

Hatfield made a mistake recruiting out of region. Our coaches should focus on the south east. I hope they're back here now recruiting.

Has qualities you don't see in much of Texas. Clemson is a nice size, nice geography and close to the mountains and beach. I work out of Texas a lot and was able to see many if our games from there

I'm glad to see Clemson has made strides in recruiting in both Florida & Texas.
Now they need to find a way to recruit California.

That too. South Carolina's recent success & affiliation with the SEC have changed that dynamic, (in recent years) but their losses this year (players & coaches) and Clemson's success and coaching additions should change that IMO.

Recruit California.... ridiculous.
Sure if a top prospect expresses a wish to come to Clemson, recruit him. Elden Campbell is from California.
A California recruit coming to Clemson would:
1) Be on the hook for round trip plane tickets for entire career. 2) Go to a school that nobody from his high school or hometown attends. 3) Never play a game within 1000 miles from home.
If you still want to recruit California, please select one of the following states that we should recruit less:
FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, PA, NJ, NY, TN, AL
I would trade every recruit from west of Mississippi for an extra 10% market share of Georgia's top 25.
Geography matters

I'm not saying Clemson should exhaust it's resources to recruit in California, but it is one of the most talent rich areas in the country. (along with Flordia & Texas as far as High School football is concerned)
If Clemson wants to build one of the elite football programs in the country, I would think you would want to look for the best players. (regardless of where they are from)

Seems to highlight a big difference b/w Steele and Venables

I can't remember Steele selling Clemson well to recruits. I don't remember any players Bama was recruiting that even thought about coming to Clemson when Steele came after the 08 season.

wow mrmm. Seems a coot like you would stay at your website. Must be envious to be here at the tigers website. Could you explain any other reason why? I'd go back to cooterville and worry about your arrests and ncaa investigations, stay close to your own camp. Nite Nite Coot.
