Underrated > overrated

Completely agree. Much rather start off in the bottom of top 25. Thing is though if we were to beat THUGA and FSU in the first 3 games we would sky rocket up to top 5.
Then we still have 2 tough games in UNC and Louisville. But at least both of them are in DV.
We have the talent to do it, just not getting the respect for multiple years of great recruiting. Go Tigers!

thUGA and FSU have had better recruiting.... if we lose both we would be out of top 25... lose one then preseason rank would be close... win both top 5 ..... I think winnign both is the right plan...

Clemson has mudholed Uga and LSU in successive seasons. That preseason polls are meaningless is quite evident in this fishwrapper. Clemson still getting no love , and no respect. Could be a very great motivator for our guys

They had a top 25 defense last year. Why is it a stretch to think that it will be top 10 with all that's returning?
Oh that's right. You're stupid.

CU returns just about its entire defense , and our Dline is far superior to yours , Xbox. The fact that Gurley and Marshallare your focus will make it easy to gameplan for ya. Our DCo has seen your offense once , and what I know about him is he is great at learning from his mistakes. I just dont think your offense will be ready for our defense , and I know our offense will execute ...because that is what Chad do. Tigers should be favored on the road , in all actuality.

Clemson returns pretty much its entire 2- deep on the DL
[1]
Posted: May 5, 2014 9:50 PM
|
|
That includes one of the leading pass- rushers in the country in Vic Beasley and a bunch of guys who made up probably the top pass- rushing DL in the country last year (Corey Crawford had 10.5 TFL, led the team in QB pressures with 16, and added 3 sacks; returning linemen combined for 122 TFL and 26 sacks; 4 returners on the DL had over 10 TFL last year).
We return Stephone Anthony (5- star) at MLB, who led the team in tackles with 131 (13.5 TFL and 4 sacks, also).
Tony Steward is taking over at WILL and is a former 5- star LB who's been waiting his turn after returning from injury.
The other LB position isn't on the field as much as the other two, but I haven't sensed much worry there. TJ Burrell was #2 on the depth chart last year, and a number of other talented guys are competing with him.
We think the secondary will be improved, as we return both safeties and our corners will have a combo of talent and experience.
I'm not saying they'll be the #1 defense- or even in the top 10- but I do think they'll be better than Georgia.

Vic Beasley, arguably a top 3 DE in the nation in 2014. Grady Jarrett, a defensive tackle considered by some to be a future 1st rounder. Stephone Anthony, a 1st-2nd rounder in his own right. Corey Crawford who got a 2nd round grade after last season, I would hope he will improve on that. Tony Steward, former 5-star and #1 linebacker in the country. Mackensie Alexander, a top 3 corner coming out of high school and 5-star player. As well as returning Josh Watson (starter), Jayron Kearse (starter), Martin Jenkins (starter), and Travis Blanks (starter.) I think the defense will be fine, dawg.

I don't know what you saw from your team last year to make you think you deserve to be in the top 10 this year after losing Murray, but Clemson returns a defense with a pretty strong front 7 along with a lot of young talent on offense.
I would think you offense will take a step back next year while your defense will be about the same. There's no proof that Pruitt can sustain the success he had last year with a team that doesn't already have a history of defensive success and that doesn't have 5- star players at every position like FSU.

It seems folks are taking Cole lightly. After about the 3d or 4th game, they will be saying that Cole came out of no where. Wrong, he has been at Clemson the last four years backing up a very tough and rugged Tajh Boyd. Surprise, surprise, not really!!! I'm feeling that Cole will play as a seasoned QB from game one.

How about the Copts at 10 ? Is thos comedy hour ? Their defense will be flaccid and I expect that they will have problems in the passing game , makes their running game suspect thru it being the obvious strength of their team. I bet they lose 5 this year.

Not really surprised where Schlabaugh has Clemson ranked. First off, the Tigers do have some questions to be answered on offense. Secondly, Mark Schlabaugh ALWAYS has been skeptical of Clemson and ranks them low.

Don't get it. 'bama is a defensive juggernaut. Every year ranked #1 and they never get billed as in a rebuilding process. I'm not directly comparing us to bama because I understand their level of talent is greater at the moment, but with all we have coming back on defense, plus the additions of last years redshirt class of DBs along with chad Morris whose proven to have success with every first year starting quarterback he's had I feel like their aren't many questions to answer than at tackle.
