Cant believe Franklin would take the PSU job

seems like a career killer to me. I thought PSU would go after an aging HC that can steady the ship through the next few years under this punishment and set the table for a up and coming coach like Franklin.

he grew up there when it was the gold standard of college football. He probably always wanted to play there and still thinks it can be. OBrien did a nice job but the lack of continuity and sanctions make it very tough.

Why not! He is a Pennsylvania native, and maybe he has it figured out that he can only take Vanderbilt only so far. PSU will be a career killer for anyone who can't recruit, but Franklin should be able to recruit the Penn/Ohio areas for the type of players that fit PSU.

and can pay huge dollars, and they will be patient. They also have a future NFL QB. Franklin would be foolish to turn it down. He's one bad season at Vandy from being irrelevant

They can't imagine a coach leaving the SEC for another job. The though that there's a better place for a HC to be is making them all puke.
OH WELL!

U are spot on w this comment. They will pay him big bucks, it is a great program, and he is from the area. And the fact that a few bad years at Vandy and all of a sudden he can't get a big time job. He is smart to go and get paid now! Plus if he doesn't do very well it can be justified by the scholarship losses, so even then he could go get another good HC job. This is a great situation for him.

a great challenge and against all odds be successful.
Penn State has been suffering from one of the severest sanctions ever levied by the NCAA, and whether or not one agrees with the penalties, they deserve the opportunity to rebuild their program.
Maybe, these things are on Coach Franklin's mind. And maybe, just maybe, he will be the man to righten the ship.

Franklin took a no doody nothing Vandy team to three straight bowls, won two of them and averaged 8 wins a year at a school that could not win 8 games in 2-3 years prior to his arrival, he recruited 3-4 star types in bunches at a school that only ever saw two star types. At PSU he should be very successful once he gets past the sanctions, the guy won at Vandy for crying out loud. He should win at PSU in bunches soon enough. He is a good coach, maybe a great coach, who else could make Vandy relevant in three years? Give him the benefit of doubt, and PSU is one of the blue bloods of CFB, always has been, quite a coup for a young coach. I for one think he is up to the task. The guy is an over achiever no doubt, but he has the mettle to make noise in a big way at PSU, he did an amazing building job at Vandy in just three seasons,
