ACC pods + ACC/SEC rivalries

The idea of ACC teams being regionalized in pods and playing each other home and away has already been brought up. Longtime ACC writer David Teel added some detail to the idea today:

"If there is a season, and that’s a massive if, home-and-homes among ACC teams could be the rule rather than exception, saving athletic departments considerable travel costs.

"One proposal league athletic directors are considering is dividing the ACC’s 15 schools — traditional football independent and partial conference member Notre Dame would be included — into three geographic pods of five. Teams would play each pod rival twice, accounting for eight games.

"The aim then would be, in concert with the Southeastern Conference, to add a ninth, and hopefully 10th, contest for each school, preserving the four annual ACC-SEC in-state rivalries: Clemson-South Carolina, Florida State-Florida, Georgia Tech-Georgia and Louisville-Kentucky."

So our POD would likely be with Miami, FSU, GT, and Wake?

And UNC would play Wake, Duke, NCSU and the little sisters of the poor. That would be fair.

Seems like all kinds of problems with attempting one. And the pods would add one more big problem - 3 pods and only 2 spots in the CG.

Seems like even if we get some football this year, we may not have a postseason. It would be nearly impossible to pick the 4 most deserving teams for the playoff when they are only playing conference games, and its even more of an issue if the conference schedule consists of just 4 teams.
