Letting Louisville Score on Final Drive

Oct 3, 2016, 2:04 PM

Was anyone else thinking we should let Louisville score the touchdown on their final drive so we could get the ball back with enough time to score the game-winning field goal? We had all three time outs left. I didn't think the defense was going to stop them.

i was kinda thinking about that too***

I Must Confess It Crossed My Mind

Then when it went 4th and 12 I started praying for no PI penalty.

That is what I was worried about - PI on a fade or something

but I didn't want to let them score.

When Leggett scored our final TD....

I said to my buddy, I sure hope we didn't score too quickly and leave Louisville too much time on the clock.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

are you crazy!???

Oct 3, 2016, 2:14 PM

The only person in college football who could score that quickly is this Watson kid at Clemson!,

Guilty as well***

Heck no. The field compresses from the 20 on in. I'll gamble on a lead and BV's defense with things being as they were. A first and goal on the 3 would be a different scenario.

YES I WAS - I thought the same last year too

I don't have enough faith in our in defense those situations and shame on me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It crossed my mine as well...

Oct 3, 2016, 2:18 PM

...but their defense was stout in the 3rd quarter. I didn't want us to roll the dice against that squad.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no... They needed a TD.. not a FG

Oct 3, 2016, 2:18 PM

in that scenario... you play it out every time

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

Yeah, I even thought it out loud, down to the 1:20 mark... After the clock went inside one minute, I would have been committed to keeping them out.

But how about some props to Mark Edmonds for coming off his receiver and making that tackle one-on-one? He also made 2 or 3 other 1-on-1 tackles like that during the game.

For him not to get the game ball is a little bit of a shame!

Go Tigers... all the way to the house!

yep

Oct 3, 2016, 2:57 PM

And Watson would have won it.

I thought the odds were higher for a good ending.

In a way it may have changed the post-game narrative some.

I used to think that way.. but honestly, with this D, I didn't***

I'd be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind. It was pretty clear that the coaches thought we could get a stop there, though.

I was wondering if we should have been calling timeouts to save time.
