why today's rock music is terrible: lack of badass women

Jul 19, 2014, 10:40 PM

like these asskickers:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVcl0Iw3fs8
Ann - badass voice
Nancy - badass guitar picker

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgoKClX6vsc
Pat - badass sexy (body and voice)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks-JBOOtPAo
Joan - just badass everything

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjKGJ9RFo78
Chrissie - ditto, badass Queen of cool

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnYQxhIfGtk
Stevie - Witchy badass

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH_rfGBwamc
Courtney - I know everybody hates her, but she put on one of the most badass shows I ever saw (and the redhead bassist was a freaking smoke show - watch the first 30 secs of this video for proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0CYB5V9e64 ).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WOMaWQQRug
now, for something a little bit on the wild side.... Nashville P*ssy
hey, when you can play like Angus Young wearing only a leopardskin bra, you are a badass.
And when you are 6'8" and spit fire, you are DEFINITELY a badass.....they deserve mention.

I never saw Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, or Debbie Harry live, so didn't include them. They could be on the list too.

Bring back some badass women bands!!

never saw the Cranberries either, though I wanted to.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not into music like many of you lungers. But yeah.......

Jul 20, 2014, 11:06 AM [ in reply to Well, here you go. ]

Grace is good. I'd like to see her in concert someday.

.

Melissa Auf der Maur.

Jul 19, 2014, 10:47 PM

She's actually one heck of a musician, but no longer with Hole. She was with Smashing Pumpkins after original bassist D'arcy Wretzky left the band.

Legs, #####, face, voice, War Pigs.

LOUD.

Patti Smith - truly trash rock and roll?

I always had high hopes for Sass Jordan.

Jul 19, 2014, 11:26 PM

Great voice, easy on the eyes, and she has some tunes that will rock your a$$ off...and some that she must have written in Wisconsin they're so full of cheese. But she has worked with some killer guitarists over the years like Ian Moore, and Stevie Salas. Check her out on this Robin Trower cover with Salas on the axe:

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I thought she leaned kind of towards the 90's "new" country

Jul 20, 2014, 12:44 AM

crap. I liked a couple of her songs, I think I actually had one of her CDs at one time. Same with Allanah Myles (remember "Black Velvet"?)

and I'm not missing any of those Lilith Fair types. The Natalie Merchant/Indigo Girls/Melissa Etheridge. No use for that.

BTW, not the right youtube link.

Double dose of badass women...

Jul 20, 2014, 10:46 AM

The Runaways with Joan Jett and Lita Ford.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcCPNHIwRK8

Saw Joan in Charlotte in '81 right before I Love Rock And Roll broke through. Back in the day, Charlotte had 3 or 4 really great small 'punk' clubs and a bunch of the bands that we went to see not knowing who they were at the time went on to achieve some modicum of commercial success.

Re: some modern options

Jul 20, 2014, 12:06 PM

Halestorm -lzy is hot with serious attitude
Flyleaf - lead singer not as hot but great music.

If you are into symphonic metal, within temptation and delain are great options but hard to catch a concert without going to Europe. On my bucket list.

You know you've raised a real tiger fan when you ask your son what he wants his cub scout pinewood derby car to be and he says a Tiger!
