The evolution over Russia has been amazing...

Among Trumpies (speaking about the collective group and not necessarily all of them here on this board, but most of them).
Here's how the timeline has developed.
1. "You can't actually think Russia hacked our election? That's absurd." 2. "You're telling me some ads on Facebook swayed our election? This is silly." 3. "It's just a witch hunt and there is no collusion. Maybe the Russians hacked us. Maybe it was someone else. Either way, you can't prove Trump was involved." 4. "Why would Putin even want Trump to win?" (BTW, Putin admitted that he did today). 5. "Who cares if Russia meddled in our eletion? Hey, we've meddled in elections, too!"
We've sat back and watched Trumpies literally change their argument as it has evolved with the president.
At the end of the day, they're still turning a blind eye to a dangerous enemy messing with our election. Why? Because the results were in favor of the man they adored.
And in case you missed it, Trump blamed America for our relations with Russia. He blamed us. His words, not mine.
And some of you defend that.

The left’s version of b-b-but Obama seems to be

“Why you wanna bring up old shiiit?”
If you beat your wife for decades and then start railing against spousal abuse, your hypocrisy is fair game because ultimately you were part of the current problem. You don’t get just go “yeah, that was so 4 years ago—-I’m all about 2018 now. “
Many on the left have easily been just as guilty of putting undeserving leaders on pedestals, bordering on idolatry, and it’s frankly hilarious to see the self righteousness they possess as they call out those on the right now doing the same.

It feels like one.
Does that make my observation wrong? And I think we can wager this is the most dangerous cult of personality we've seen in the White House.

cult of personality? Really????
My observation about your observation is that the way you post about this stuff, it's like it's the first time it's ever happened, and it spells certain doom for the country if your point of view isn't followed.
It's not, and it doesn't.

we live in a world that is increasingly dumbed down. People are getting news from sources that agree with them, and only sources that agree with them. People don't like to be challenged in their personal views. Facebook makes everyone but me feel inferior to everyone. We are losing our ability to socialize in person due to our reliance on social technology.
And in the meantime, we are swinging back and forth on the pendulum between left and right, with each successive tribal change resulting in a deeper rift and more loyalty to our dear leader.
It's looking pretty bad.

you often insinuate. When I say that Trump isn’t the first cult of personality in US political history, and you come back with “is this a but-Obama post”, it implies that at best, Obama is the first potential US political cult of personality you can think of.
For one, Kennedy definitely fit the mold, and I have heard the allegation leveled at Reagan, and certainly Obama too.

We meddle too, to saying who cares they did it. No, it means we have no moral high ground.
Yes it sucks they tried to affect out election, but for us to be all high and mighty and say how dare you when our own President just did it to out friends is laughable. And that's just one we found out about. To say we haven't hacked other countries server of political opponents is laughable.
And Obama knew about this for yrs and never did a dang thing til it turned politics a few days before he left lol. But you know just like everyone else that you all are just using this issue as a political tool.
Who really cares if trump scolded Putin. The answer, no one. Why, because it wouldn't change a dang thing. We're gonna try it again as will they.

Your boy is Putin’s boy - weak, submissive & subservient
Jul 17, 2018, 10:02 AM

Trump’s been castrated by Putin ... and is running scared. He was cowering at the podium next to “strong & powerful” Putin. For starters Putin made him wait 30 to 40 minutes. A real thug versus a FAKE bully ... not surprising who is the coward and slobbering compliments on his knees. #MAGA
Simple solution - Be a patriot, put ‘Merica before your personal interests & fight back. When attacked, Trump has done nothing to booster our cyber defenses. His fear and insecurities have blinded his ability to see facts and paralyzed his ability to act in America’s interests.

"Gov. Romney, I'm glad that you recognize that al-Qaida is a threat, because a few months ago when you were asked what's the biggest geopolitical threat facing America, you said Russia, not al-Qaida. You said Russia ... the 1980s, they're now calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War's been over for 20 years," Obama said.
"On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but it’s important for him to give me space," Obama was heard telling Medvedev, apparently referring to incoming Russian president Vladimir Putin. "Yeah, I understand," Medvedev replied. Obama interjected, saying, "This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility."

Well, let's see...
-I cited Turkey's Erdogan and his fake coup to seize power as a possible inspiration. This week, Trump pointed to Erdogan and his power grab, and said he did things the right way. -Trump kisses Putin's ### left and right, and then he pulled the stunt he did yesterday in front of the whole world after a private meeting with Putin. -And look, we just busted a Russian agent within the NRA accused of setting up private channels between Trump and Putin.
Yep. Sure looks like my ideas are nutty.

Trump's a a Russian agent, and the coup has started.
You should alert the media.
And then later, back way off the internet machine and go fishing for a few days. You're seriously letting your hared for someone you don't know, will never meet, and won't affect your life in any tangible way cloud your judgement.

In my view Trump supporters, like a lot of Americans wanted real change. The elites of both parties have ignored the voters for many years. Trump supporters wanted someone from the outside, to go to Washington and really shake things up.
Would they have preferred someone more credible, with a higher moral standard! Absolutely. But Trump is what they have and they're still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in order to shake up the status quo.
It's understandable....to a point.
