Wow, a Republican with a public spine...this is rare.

Jul 24, 2018, 3:49 PM

“They want trade, not aid,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said of farmers caught in the middle of the trade war.

“This is becoming more and more like a Soviet-type of economy here. Commissars deciding who should be granted waivers. Commissars in the administration trying to figure out how they’re going to sprinkle around benefits,” he said."

"Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), an outspoken critic of Trump’s trade policies, said the president is putting farmers on welfare.

“You yourself put in place a policy that causes people to need to be on welfare and then you provide the welfare. It would be much better to just reverse the policy that’s creating this,” said Corker, who is retiring at the end of this Congress."

Rand Paul too. But that's normal for him.

Tariffs are taxes that punish American consumers and producers. If tariffs punish farmers, the answer is not welfare for farmers — the answer is remove the tariffs.

Apparently Trump doesn't understand any of that. He fails to realize consequences.

It's a very fine balance.

Rand is full of dookie. He will grandstand

Jul 24, 2018, 6:07 PM [ in reply to Rand Paul too. But that's normal for him. ]

and then go along like he always does.

Fair criticism. While "always" isn't accurate

Jul 25, 2018, 9:48 AM

he does play politics too and caves on issues when it's obvious he's not really satisfied. He knows he can't completely follow his true ideals and survive politically. Our system is set up to reward liars. That's why he is more of a successful politician than his father. His father simply would not play ball. I give Rand way more credit than most politicians though.

That's funny! :)

The Rump Depression is on the way. You know it is.

That would be beneficial to Russia and TheRump, similar to the dissolution of NATO.

In 2008 TheRump said he liked the recession, because he could buy property cheaper. (He didn't care that families were being kicked out of their homes. Many lost their homes due to bank fraud -- and it was not the fault of the families. Others lost their homes due to the failing economy of "The W," when he started two wars and cut taxes for the rich.)

But TheRump loved the 2008 super recession! (That made America Great, for him.)

Since Trump has no spine, I would expect him to fold under the pressure soon.

I've yet to see how it's a smart play for Trump to #### all over the states that supported him.
