I know I sure don't want to see someone that age get 20 years for anything short of some violent crime that ruins another's life. I'd hate to see any of the three walk on this one.

Not always. Sometimes it can be that they are deliberating whether there is enough evidence to plead him as guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If there isn't concrete evidence, deliberation can take a while , as each member can view the evidence presented differently (one may hold high to the witness testimony as being enough of a credible source, while another separates it from whether evidence was presented to support it). That can swing either way, depending on how many lean one way vs another and persuasion of opinion.
