is it very sad and pathetic that marcus lattimore is getting

som much attention about an injured knee. What about our young troops that are dying and losing arms and legs defending our country? Wheres all the talk about them. pathetic and discraceful imo

People sell what they think makes money

Soldiers die, but people expect a few soldiers to die every year. Nothing unusual. Thats a sick thought, but if you think about it, only the unexpected makes the headlines for more than a glancing thought.

People expect football players to be injured. Noone expects their star to be injured as seriously as Lattimore was.

Hurricane Sandy's death toll is under 100. How many murders happen in New England/New York area every year? Gang activity/Murders are expected, a hurricane is not. Therefore which gets more news? Hurricane Sandy.

I wonder if CJ Spiller had a possible career ending injury

Nov 1, 2012, 4:09 PM

if we would be acting like this.

Its not a career ending injury though. Its basically the

one of my preacher buddies said he was sick and tired about

hearing so much about m.lattimore when we have single moms that need help putting food on the table, genocide in other countries, and our troops getting killed at war and yet we're all up in arms and shedding tears about a star athlete that hurt his knee...They won't waste their time praying for those others that truly need it but if it effects our sport teams...

it just shows our values.

Most usc fans are very ignorant people. In their mind this

Nov 1, 2012, 4:13 PM

is a worldwide tragedy

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no doubt its terrible for anyone to go through an injury

Nov 1, 2012, 4:19 PM

like that but it is pretty amazing to see the priority we put on our sports teams. I'm guilty of it as well. I also didn't see a rally for Anthony Waters when his season was lost to injury. He was our defense that year.

Again i get the support for ML. But like you said, these people would rather you disrespect their mothers before you disrespect ML. I'm sure ML is probably a little freaked out about all this attention.

Spot lights shine on some people in a way it's
hard to pin down.
Some for bad things and those usually get the spot light
as unusual therefore newsworthy. It "sells" news.
Sometimes the spot light hits someone for their exceptional abilities. Lattimore is one of those guys.
He was in the media before and it happened on a national stage. I know I'm a fan but it made me sick to see it.
Everybody wants to help a good guy.
IF...big one...he recovers get ready for press onslaught of biblical proportions.
Life ain't fair but it's good to see ANY good guy get recognition.
God Bless those not so fortunate as Marcus and not followed by the spot light.
Good luck to them all.
