Speaking of Dabo/Alabama, he’s a DT question.

It ain’t gonna happen, but what if, for some reason or another, we had to replace Dabo within the next three years? If you were Dan R., who would you consider?

Hate to say it but I would rule out Elliot and Scott just because they have never been a head coach at a Div. I program. Big difference between being a head coach bs an assistant. They need to go somewhere else and prove themselves and then be considered for Clemson in the future.

I have mixed emotions about how Brent V. would handle being a head coach. I think he’s happy making over $1 mm being an assistant.

So, question is, ruling out any assistant we have, who would you go after? We are now at the level where we are real appealing to anyone but Saben and Meyer.

I vote for the Sanford coach.

David Shaw is never leaving Stanford for anything besides maybe the NFL, and even then maybe only for the 49ers and still not likely.

I seem to recall Dabo and David Shaw showing a lot of love toward each other a couple of years ago. One never knows.

I remember that and he was asked what team he would like to play and he said Clemson. Appears to be a real decent guy.

Do you mean the Samford Coach, Chris Hatcher?

Huge difference being a coordinator or say maybe a receivers coach and head coach... that would never work.

I don’t think Dabo leaves but if he does I feel confident he has a plan for Clemson to replace him. Personally I think that guy is Jeff Scott. He shares a lot of the same qualities and ability to connect to people that Dabo does. Elliot seems to be more a Veneables coach type, an expert at his craft whereas Scott strikes me as the face in front of a mic type.

BEFORE YOU START REPLACING COACHES, CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE DABO WAS A HEAD COACH BEFORE CLEMSON?

1 Dabo wasn't ever a HC or even a coordinator. 2 Just look down his coaching tree CM or JS would jump at the job
