In the Olympics we have events like

Synchronised Swimming
Synchronised Diving
Badminton
Equestrian
Handball

But they got rid of Women's Softball. Why? It's not like it wasn't popular like all these other "sports".

it's mainly an American sport - the other events you mentioned are.

IMO, all the events you mentioned are sports because they involve using your body (and horse in equestrian) and being in top physical shape. They're not games like some people like to call them.

They're just as much sports as calling NASCAR racing a sport.

I have a rule about the Olympics. I never watch any sport that an analyst has to explain to me why someone won or lost. If I can't figure it out myself, I ain't watching.
