how many people have an internet connection on their tv?
i cant remember but it seems that some tvs are (maybe have been for awhile) coming with wireless conenction.
or do you subscrive to a service like Netflix?
i bought a 50" Vizio recently and have really enjoyed it. it was like $600. no internet conenction.
with my old (little - 34") HDtv i once connected a laptop to it but found that a bother and didnt do that for long.
i am wondering should i connect a laptop to this one and get a wireless mouse and keyboard then i might consider surfing (?) on this new tv.
but honestly, most of the surfing i do is from funny links here in the Junge. and maybe occasional Youtube.
sooo....i guess i havent asked a question yet ....but am wondering how many of you use the internet on your HDtvs and in what nature and with what connection?

cant you buy an HD antenna that will receive local channels in HD?
my girlfriend moved a couple years ago and was without cable for a weekend so i bought one from Radio Shack but i could never get that to work.
the RS salesman said it would work.
i remember they changed the cable waves so that you wouldnt have the ability to pick up with the old rabbit ears.
but didnt they allow for HD antennas?
i want to buy one for my old small HDtv and have football overload in my den.
=)

I have one tv with an internet connection, one thru the blue ray and one on a roku box.
Although they all work, the Roku has the best menu, imo.

game one time. It was only on the local's HD channel version. Worked pretty well, great picture on the 3-4 channels I could get. With HD antennas, you either get a great picture or nothing. There's some website that tells you what you can receive in HD over the air in your zip code. Since I upgraded to HD Dish, I don't use it anymore, but may use it in an extra bedroom if I ever have an extra HD set.
My big TV is smart, with apps and a cheesy keyboard on the remote, but my techy SIL just uses roku boxes or his game console.

It's able to alos be an IP access point, which is interesting.
Even though I do "tech" for a career, I'm not sure how much I'll ever use all of it.

about two years ago. Coupled with my TV's internet functions, I've got just about everything covered.
I ripped every single DVD and Blu-Ray we had in the house and now everything is all in one place, with a slick interface, summaries, and everything else. Right now, I'm sitting on about 5TB, and I'm getting ready to add another hard drive.
The real upside was the fact I never had to figure out if I loaned a movie to somebody else, or if I misplaced a disc. We ended up being able to get rid of a 5-shelf bookcase that had nothing but movies on it.

the nerd I.T. in me requires I ask this....
you DO have that stuff backed up somewhere right??
would be good to have it on Mozy in the cloud or something.
at least have it backed up (oh the irony) on DVDs somewhere !!!!
