Slipped discs in back. Will they heal on their own eventually

Jan 14, 2019, 3:36 PM

I have some arthritis in my back, a few slipped discs, and a narrowing of the spine. The only thing I notice are the slipped discs though. Anyone here have the disc issue? Did it ever get better?

Nope.

Went down that path in 2009. Herniated disc between L4 and L5. Couldn't lay flat and slept in a chair for a week. Used a walker at 49 years old. Still not sure how I wiped my butt.

Had to have surgery. Walked out on my own a day later, albeit 1/2" shorter.

Sorry for the bummer news, but I haven't had an issue since.

The good news is that the surgery worked. How long after surgery until you were 100%

In the scale of back surgeries, it's up there, but not by any means the worst (fusion).

It will fix you right up. If they even mention the word fusion....just hope they never say that word.

I would rather look at WebMD or youtube and do surgery on myself than ask a jounger for medical advice.

BUT....

what if that Jounger is using YouTube or WebMD as his source? Wouldn't that actually save you some time?

I had a herniated disk in back.

Jan 14, 2019, 5:14 PM

Lived with it for about 9 months trying to let it heal with various therapy.

Never did heal in the 9 months, had laser surgery and was better the next day. Haven’t had any trouble with it since (4 years). If it happened again I would go ahead and laser surgery once I knew the diagnosis.
