I'm not a huge NBA fan, but I was when I was a kid.
I never understood the Atlanta Hawks logo, and assumed it was some sort of pac-man. I never put a huge amount of thought into it, but it never made sense to me.
While spending time in Atlanta, I was looking at the logo and was able to see the hawk head on the left side of the logo. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I can't believe I've never seen that before.

The brothers wanted to call their restaurants "Big Tex", but that name was already used by an Akron business. Instead, they chose the name "Arby's," based on R. B., the initials of Raffel Brothers. The Raffel brothers opened the first new restaurant in Boardman, Ohio, just outside Youngstown, on July 23, 1964.
