CJ Spiller vs Sammy Watkins Freshman years...

I made a post a few weeks ago to just do a little comparison on the impact of CJ vs Sammy in their Freshman seasons. You can see that here:
http://www.tigernet.com/forums/thread.jspa?forumID=1&threadID=999344&messageID=11018077#11018077
I'm now doing a follow up post to see where we sit through 7 games. Like I said in the previous post, you can't COMPLETELY compare the two, but it's very interesting to see the numbers...
CJ Spiller (opponents: Florida Atlantic, BC, Fl State. UNC, La Tech, Wake, Temple)
61 rushes for 407 yards (avg 6.6) 11 Receptions for 134 yards (avg 12.2) 7 total TD's (6 rushing and 1 receiving) 6 Kick Returns for 111 yards (avg 18.5) 7 Punt Returns for 26 yards (avg 3.71)
Average Yards per Touch: 7.97
Total All Purpose Yards: 678
Sammy Watkins (opponents: Troy, Wofford, Auburn, Fl State, Virginia Tech, BC, Maryland)
20 rushes for 127 yards (avg 6.4) 46 Receptions for 728 yards (avg 15.8) 9 total TD's (8 receiving and 1 KR) 11 Kick Returns for 338 yards (avg 30.7) 2 Punt Returns for 12 yards (avg 6)
Average yards per touch: 15.25
Total All Purpose Yards: 1,205
Sammy has pretty much doubled total yardage at this point in the season. He also averages almost double what CJ did every time he touches the ball. And, he's almost tripled what CJ did on kickoff returns. I think the most impressive thing about this is looking at the opponents that Sammy has had to face vs what CJ did. And Sammy is still killing it. Impressive.

Sammy. I figure you'd have to discount everything except CJ's senior year. I just can't believe that we are lucky enough to have two skill players of this caliber (speed, game-changing ability, character).

CJ had 85 touches through 7 games...
Sammy has had 79 touches through 7 games...
I would argue Sammy has done more with less touches against tougher competition.

We're running a more balanced offense

So defenders have a bunch of headaches OTHER than CJ to worry about. CJ would have numbers just as good in our current offense I would think. But when defenders have to worry about Allen, Bryant, Bellamy, Nuke, etc. that makes the superstar that more productive.

Rob spence wasted CJ,would love to see what spillers numbers would have been with the CHAD.But either way Sammy in his first year is way ahead of what Spiller was his first year.Never thought I would say it but SW leave CJ in second as far as stats go.

did which is one of the reasons this offense is so successful. Even if it does mean that he doesn't get 98% of the touches.

CJ didn't need to get the ball more during his freshman year because at the time Davis was by far the better running back. Spiller was still running backwards to try for touchdowns on every play. Watkins is by far our best receiver at this point, and that's saying something because the other receivers are really good.

morning if he had had C.J. Spiller, Jacoby Ford, and Michael Palmer on the same team. This guy would have gotten C.J. and Jacoby the ball when they were running full speed in a little space. That's all C.J. needed, and that's all he needs now at Buffalo. He's not a RB, into the line kind of player, and he probably never will be.
We had him doing it, and when there was a hole, he was gone, but he had a hard time learning to just take the 2 yards when that's all there was to get.
