I really enjoyed the pre-game at Churchill Downs...

It keeps you segregated from the vast majority of the Louisville fans which, trust me when I tell you, is not a bad thing.

Took the wife with me this time. She had never been to Louisville or Churchill Downs before and while there, she wanted to place a small wager on one of the horse races (when in Rome right).

So, I give her a C-note and tell her to have at it. After watching a couple of races, she chooses a race and picks some random horse based entirely on its name (Princess Warrior). Absolutely no other thought went into that selection.

In an eight horse race, Princess Warrior was giving 7/1 odds. The wife places a $50.00 bet and buys our group a few adult beverages with the change (a Mich Ultra was $8.00).

Dang if ole Princess Warrior didn't win and we collected $350.

Did I mention how much I really enjoyed the pre-game at Churchill Downs?
