Will we have 3 backs with 400-500yds a piece. I really feel though if Etienne stays healthy. Then he could be a 1500yd running back by season end. I think the group I’m excited most about besides QB is Running back.

That’s exactly what I think. He averages 100yds in 15 games. Keep in mind I believe most games he bust a big one for 40-60yd td runs

Even if he were to average 7 YPC for the entire season he would need 215 carries to get to 1500 yards. That's literally double the number of carries he got last year. I just don't see any one back being featured that much.

1,000 yards this year, especially if we make it to game 15 and he stays healthy. I hope he gets more than 1,500. But he will be splitting a lot of carries so I just don't see it happening.

Probably an unpopular opinion but IMO if KB is the quarterback we are going to go with, he needs to put a little more trust in our running backs and not call his own number so many times. No reason KB should have almost the same amount of carries of Feaster and Etienne combined.

on running plays. That would mean he's either incorrectly reading the read options or just flat out ignoring the reads. I believe that would get him an earful from the coaches.
More likely is that he's running too frequently on passing plays where he makes 1-2 reads and takes off because he's uncomfortable.
Therefore, getting the RBs more carries is probably in the hands of the coaches, not KB.

If the defense's strategy is to make KB run it to tire him out so he can't throw effectively, he has to take what the defense gives him.

Thank you for this article. That’s a good read. I agree with that if we are going to win a national championship it will be done with Trevor Lawrence not Kelly Bryant anyone can see that.

While I would love to have a 1000 yd back this season, or any for that matter, I would prefer 3 backs that get 500+ yards each. I feel like the three RBs we have coming back this season is as good as any returning group we have ever had. With that said, all the talk last week was about how an unknown freshman, LJD, has been tearing up the defense and is ahead of where ETN was at this point last season. So, 4 backs with 500+ yards gets my vote....

separates himself enough to get true 1st team reps. Number of carries needed for 1000 yards at a few different YPC averages:
7.2 YPC - 139 carries
7.0 YPC - 143 carries
6.5 YPC - 154 carries
6.0 YPC - 167 carries
He averaged 7.2 YPC last year. That might dip a little with a greater work load in 2018, but i seriously doubt he drops all the way down to 6 YPC unless we have larger offensive issues. Considering he didn't get a single carry against Auburn last year and got 10+ carries in 2 games, I don't think it's a stretch to assume he will get 150 or so carries this year.

Etienne got 107 carries in 13 games last year.

That's a little over 8 carries per game. If that number goes up to 10-11 he should have a shot at hitting 1000 yards. That seems very possible to me so long as he stays healthy.

but 2,500 or more total rushing yards during the regular season, and one 2,000 yard passer (Lawrence) but 3,500 or more total passing yards during the regular season.
But I am hoping for four 1,000 yard rushers and 5,000 total rushing yards, one 3,000 yard passer and two 1,500 yard passers, twelve wins in the regular season, and fifteen wins overall.

To paraphrase Derek Watson (former USUC player), I think ETN will "rush for 1000 or 1500 yards this year, whichever comes first".
