It's not just the coastal division. Outside of FSU and Clemson the entire ACC is a pile of crap.
What ticks me off is that we're stuck here now that we gave up our TV rights. We shoulda bolted for the Big 12 when we had the chance.

There are going to be cycles of one division looking much better than the other for a period of time, and then that division looking worse than the other for a while. The Coastal looked like the better division for much of the late 2000s, but now it looks pretty rough with VT, Miami, UNC and UVa not playing very well.
In terms of overall program strength, I think the divisions are pretty evenly matched.

why not ask all acc schools to step up their football programs? what is wrong with us being in the same division as fsu? what's wrong with competition?

I would rather play them in the ACCCG. FSU and Clemson are the only football schools in the ACC. Va Tech and the U try to be but will never get back to that level.

I think Louisville is going to be good for a while if Petrino stays and keeps his act together. If Addazzio stays at BC, they will also be a pretty good team. This doesn't solve the problem that they're all in the Atlantic. I wish we would get switched to the Coastal. I don't see us declining for a long time. We'd be in the ACC Title Game every year.
