Many years ago, the ex and I used to join with several other couples most Sunday mornings and drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe to go to the horse races....lotsa fun, beer, scenery, etc....great way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Upon arrival, all us guys would immediately grab a racing form and do as thorough a study for each of the entrants in each race as possible---usually enough to break just above or below what it cost to go to the track---beers, parking, etc.
However, the girls would all walk down to the show ring before each race where each entrant was paraded around before heading for the gate. They always looked for the jockey or horse which they thought had the nicest or prettiest colors---and bet accordingly. Needless to say, they would usually pick more winners than us guys
