What do Jounge?

In a bit of a pickle.
I have an assistant to the assistant ball waxer and grass cutter job closer to home and family that a decision will need to be made soon.
I also have an interview for head grass cutter of an entire facebook county next week.
Pay will be about the same for each job compared to my current assistant grass cutter gig.
What do jounge?

Paycheck wise yes.

One will be same pay, closer to home.
One is a step up the ladder for, most likely the same pay (could be 20K more in pay but I doubt it).
Sometimes you have to do the one job to get the other job which puts you in line for the other job.

IMO, a step up the ladder with same pay isn’t worth it.

Up the ladder typically means more responsibility. More responsibility typically means more stress with less time to drink at work.
Really, it’s a lose lose situation.

Figure out what makes your family happier and do it.

Be warned, the grass does always appear Greenr though. But if both jobs have an income that is sustainable and provide for your family, do whatever works best for the family. Part of that of course is making sure that you are happier and less stressed out with work, commute, and other work related crap.

then sleep on it. You'll have the answer you're looking for.
Closer to home doesn't mean you'll be getting home any earlier.

Maybe he just wants to save the environment and use less fossil fuels.

Let me try and help you out.

1. Will working close to home open up the opportunity for you to make surprise visits home on your lunch break? If this is the case, then awesome for you... just let me know ahead of time. I'm not trying to be a Jody Homewrecker.
2. Do I have this correct?
currently: decent job at decent location i.e. Assistant Manager at Kmart first job: worse job at more prestigious location i.e. bus-boy at Red Lobster second job: best job at horrible location i.e. Feature Dancer at Derriere's.
If money is the same, I would look at upward mobility, work load, stress, stay-ability at the job... Without knowing that info, I can't give a proper decision.
