What I like about getting FSU and UGA early is

that they'll both be breaking in newly implemented defensive schemes, and with our uptempo offense and pre-snap window dressing (quickly switching alignments, formations, pre-snap motioning, etc....), it may very well lead to missed assignments by their defenses which we'll hopefully capitalize on with big plays.
That, plus if we drop to FSU, we have the rest of the season to impress the selection committee.

SC state might be the most important game of the year. We will do whatever we have to to beat UGA and I think we will. But the SC State game will be the tune up game before the best team on our schedule. #TeamKelly

Overconfident?

I don't think that fan overconfidence will infect the team, though. The coaches know just how tough the Dawgs will be. They return a solid OL and have a QB waiting in the wings, but most of all, they return the top 2 rushers and their defense will be a year older.

I still don't like our chances against FSU, but I do like UGA with a new DC.

Both UGa and FSU will be implementing new defensive schemes. UGa will actually be implementing FSU's scheme, but it will be new to the players.

Yet another advantage, pruitt

Has to account for at least the possibility of #TeamKelly beating his UGA D to the edge on zone reads, which takes away the press man cover two to prevent against the deep ball. Can't have his DBs turning their backs to a Kelly run offense, nor can he just so there and send one or two guys through the inside gaps to give them numbers all day long while blowing up both the pass and the run.
I think you'll be seeing a much more reactive D if Kelly is in fact the starter. Much like what we saw in the Auburn game.

Key to beating UGA

Hutson Mason was very inconsistent under pressure last year. With Beasley back that will make it alot easier. Also Uga lost 2-3 OL from last year.

And if he's not pressing his UGA DBs like he did with FSU...
Jan 22, 2014, 4:41 PM

Then he's essentially keeping things in front (with their eyes on the QB)... meaning they'll be forced to play off the line a bit.... and bam! That opens back up our screen game.

I like the screen game a lot more when Sammy catches the ball, but it can be effective with either Williams or one of the RBs receiving.

The key will be our running game early, and
Jan 22, 2014, 5:09 PM

Not just run the ball early to say we ran the ball early to try and establish the run, but then bail and start throwing the ball except for on predictable running downs. I'm talking about pounding the rununtil we truly have them guessing and creeping up to stop it. That's when they'll more reactive, and that's when things will really start to open up in all facets of the game.
