yeah no talks versus about to be hired. definitely premature. I hate sports media and the desire to get ahead of stories. I dont know why pressers even exist since almost everying covered is leaked in advance of them

Well.

Feldman got fired from ESPN because he wrote a book with Mike Leach and that did not sit well with resident politician Craig James (btw, I think it's hilarious he could get elected in Texas just for carrying Eric Dickerson's jock strap). I'm guessing CBS picked him up so as not to seem irrelevant in the sports media world, competing with ESPN, FOX and NBC (IMO, as long as they employ Verne Lundquist, they are).

As for John Buccigross, he's a bobble head on sportscenter. I wouldn't be surprised if he was tapped to refute Feldman just because he's their competition now. They don't ususally have fondness for their former employees. And if Shannon does end up at WVU, they'll look like geniuses because it's worth the risk to be right where Feldman thought he was wrong. Either way, their ratings are too good to care about journalistic integrity or accuracy (crazy notions that they are) to the point they'd admit the report was premature.

tl;dr Their job isn't to be credible. It's to move the meter.
