Unique thought about 5* WR Julian Fleming

May 16, 2019, 7:52 AM

He wears #4 in high school.

Most people love wearing “their” number in college and beyond.

The reason DW(4) and Feaster(28) brought these numbers out of retirement.

The #4 is retired at Clemson whereas it is NOT retire at Ohio St.

Just an interesting theory/reason on why he may not end up a Tiger.

Honestly I find the whole “retiring your number” honor to be a bit much.

It just introduces another issue to navigate moving forward. Like CJ having to approve the use of his number. What if he says no? And Does CJ even want to be involved in determining who is “worthy”?

Not that I think that’s a factor with Fleming at all. You just made me think about why we do that.

Interesting thought but imo, Dabo wouldn’t let a recruit hold that over him and base that on their decision. I’d say with both DW4 and Feast, it was more of a case that they were All In that Dabo wanted to do something for them to honor their commitment vs the other way around.... but interesting thought.

Fuller AND Watson patch.

Next person to wear #28 will just don the Spiller patch

I hope no one else chooses either of those numbers

and puts that kind of pressure on themselves, especially #4... Fuller, at the time, was arguably considered the greatest Clemson QB but Mr. Watson put that # on his back and his chest and remade #4 into his own possession. I fondly remember Fuller, but even to me and probably to most that are younger than me, Watson owns #4...
