UPDATE 11/10/2015: Teams that have lost as ranked teams

Nov 10, 2015, 9:50 AM

to unranked teams since the last time Clemson did.

I wasn't going to post the List this week since I think it's becoming a moot point but there were a good handful of ranked teams that dropped games this week so I thought people would at least like to see who's on it again and who's been added.

I do have a feeling we're going to emphatically and officially bury the "C-Word" for every idiot who wants to use it this year in Glendale. GO TIGERS!!

#7 and previously-undefeated Michigan State lost to Nebraska on a controversial last-minute TD pass for their first appearance on the List. Congrats Coach Dantonio and the Spartans, you're in good company.

#13 Memphis and current it-coach Justin Fuente got spanked by Navy for their first appearance on the List, prompting Ray Tanner to strike him off the Coots' list of HC candidates, stating "We'll never have a head coach who lost to Navy."

#18 Ole Miss--who beat Alabama, yeah, that Alabama team, no, they're not undefeated despite apparently being the "best" team in the country, they have a loss at home to a now 3-loss team--got beat in a wild OT game by Bert and the Pig Sooies. The SWAG has been tamed for the 3rd time this year and the 4th appearance on the List.

And lastly, #19 Texas A&M was beat by Auburn for their inaugural appearance on the List. I had to triple check that because I swore they had been on it before but I guess all their previous losses have been to overrated-so-inexplicably-ranked SEC West teams and/or Alabama.

For those of you keeping score at home, that's 53 different teams who have lost as ranked teams to unranked teams since the last time Clemson did.

I'm not going to post the full timeline but here's the alphabetical List:

“Clemson wasn’t that much better with Trevor Lawrence, if at all.”

always enjoyed this list and though folks hated xctb for

Nov 10, 2015, 9:57 AM

talking parity and/or half the teams lost this saturday, it lends credence.

once some folks, they know whom they be, realized this was part of college football and becoming more so each year, the definition of the c-word became a moving target.

if anything might point to a bias, it's been the promulgation of the word & the changing of its definition to meet a need by certain media.

If somebody tells you to put the tin foil hat back on...

Um, that's a lot of effort....but point well made.

I started it on a boring day like 2 years ago when

Nov 10, 2015, 10:37 AM

it was relatively short and have been adding to it every week.

53 different ranked teams have lost to unranked teams

Nov 10, 2015, 12:26 PM

since the last time Clemson lost to an unranked team while ranked.

53. Do we know how many ranked teams there have been since 11/19/11?

Old Miss isn't ranked now.

Nov 10, 2015, 12:30 PM

I know that's not the way it works but it should be.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

should be "We'll never have ANOTHER head coach..."

Somebody with an account on urban dictionary

Nov 10, 2015, 1:46 PM

needs to post that under that C-word...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Excellent! I spit coffee when I read the "can't hire coach

Nov 10, 2015, 2:22 PM

that lost to Navy" line.

Hey there Ace, have you bounced this off of the list of teams that have been ranked since then?

Nov 10, 2015, 2:29 PM

i.e. 53 different teams, of the xx different teams that were ranked have lost to an unranked opponent...

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I haven't. I'll have to wait until I have another really

Nov 10, 2015, 6:43 PM

boring day to do that!

I mean there's only 128 teams in all of FBS and it's pretty safe to say only 65 or so have been ranked in the last 4 years?

I'd be pretty confident in saying only Clemson and Alabama...

Re: UPDATE 11/10/2015: Teams that have lost as ranked teams

Nov 10, 2015, 2:50 PM

This is an incredible list and a job well done.

Now - there actually needs to be 2 more lists to include every team possible:
1. All teams that have never been ranked since CLEMSON lost, so they cannot be included in this game
2. All teams that are like CLEMSON and have been ranked but have not lost to an unranked team since CLEMSON did.

That would be complete and those lists should be forwarded to ESPN.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Since there are 9 teams on the list, that have lost 4 or more

Nov 10, 2015, 3:33 PM

times since we have, those nine should be listed as the Choking Hall of Fame.
