Sep 23, 2015, 1:20 PM

Correct. No one is going to kick you off campus, arrest you, etc. if you are smoking on campus. There will be a lot of signs put up letting everyone CU is smoke free campus.

Re: C.U. going "Tobacco-Free" no victory cigars?

Sep 23, 2015, 12:01 PM

I guess the tailgating is exempt. Or better beef up campus police.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They'll never be able to enforce it

Sep 23, 2015, 1:21 PM

It's either an empty gesture or somebody didn't think the logistics through.

I don't really understand including electronic cigarettes in this ban.

If it wasn't for tobacco , Clemson nor the state of SC exists

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They did a campus survey a couple of years ago

Sep 23, 2015, 1:18 PM

and like 75% of the campus was against it. I notice they didn't publish survey results this time, probably because they're pushing it through even though they don't have the support.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm pretty sure UNC-CH did this about 7 years ago.

Sep 23, 2015, 2:14 PM

Would be interesting to know how it's worked out for them.

There are

Sep 23, 2015, 2:28 PM

many high schools going to completely tobacco free as well. I know most around where I work are. The main concern is it sets a bad example for the kids.

That's funny

Sep 23, 2015, 2:30 PM

Like the kids don't see smoking everywhere else they go anyway.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't disagree.

Sep 23, 2015, 2:33 PM

My thinking behind it is we have kids who are 18 and older in some cases. For the most part they smoke up the bathrooms which we all then have to smell. I much rather they have a smoking section off close to the woods with a teacher monitor so I don't have to smell it in the halls. I know they will never ever do that but that's just a thought of mine.

Sep 23, 2015, 2:35 PM

Good point, I was mostly thinking about the school employees, but plenty of students are of age as well.

Sep 23, 2015, 2:41 PM

I go to Ga State, we are a "tobacco free campus" too. I still dip in class and nothing has really changed. Occasionally police patrolling will ask smokers to put it out in courtyards. Other than that, nothing has changed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You go to GA State?

Sep 23, 2015, 3:28 PM

who handles your tuition?
