It's Nov 29th. 3:27 PM. Dabo Swinney jogs off the bus, rubs the rock, points to the heavens with the team following behind. Death Valley is in full force. The Gamecocks, wearing their black pants, run onto the field with a roar of boos with cocky waving, and shaming our state, the state flag in the west end zone.
The cannon booms, the crowd goes wild, and the team races down the field...
... And then he appears. One player lingering behind the rest. He walks slowly, determined to the top of the hill. It's #4. The student section erupts... DESHAUN... the north stands respond... WATSON
DESHAUN... WATSON ......... DESHAUN... WATSON
He skips down the hill. Spurrier keels over in disbelief. A tear runs down the corner of Whammy's eye. They all know what's coming. The streak is about to be broken.
The rest is history. Watson leads us to victory and learning after the game that not only was his LCL torn, his leg was actually broken in half but screwed together just a week ago by the team at Blue Ridge Orthopedics. But he's gonna be just fine.
