My question about the clock debacle...

Mar 8, 2014, 11:10 PM

So there were apparently 2 clock times that the refs were considering...and they decided not to go with the clock that controlled the red light around the backboard. The shot clock on the player's end went off first, and the other took 0.1 seconds longer...

Had the 2 clocks been switched, and the red light lit up later than the clock that the refs based their decisions on....would they have waved off Pitts shot and told them that even though he released the ball 0.1 seconds before the red light went off, there was another clock that had already ended and his shot did not count?

there was no shot clock...

the clocks were not synced (which I find incredibly hard to understand)... but they are both official game clocks.

They said if one clock showed time, they had to go with it.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

wait, what?

they said there were 2 official game clocks...but they had to go with the one with time still on it? soooo there werent 2 official game clocks- the later one was the official one?

That's my question as well.

Was there a truly a 0.1 mismatch between clocks, or was there a 0.1 mismatch between video feed and real time?

It has been said both ways on here tonight.

Nm.

Thanks. Just curious, are you sure of that?

Are you saying clocks on both ends of the court showed 0.0?

There's literally no way to know as no camera frame never...

Showed both clocks. From sitting behind the basket on the far baseline from the play side, the clocks reset identically throughout the game. I didn't watch with my slow motion house fly vision today unfortunately.
