Question of the Day?
Jun 25, 2013, 1:55 PM

If you were to be placed on a Major League baseball team as the every day DH... assuming an average of 4 AB a game, 160 games, 640 AB total. How many times do you think a person with no baseball experience above the high school level would reach base? Assuming you practiced with the team throughout the season as well. O/U 20 ?

I'll go with under, unless we're counting BBs

Let's face it. ML pitchers are there because they're the best of the best of the best. A good player in HS would likely spend at least 2 years in AA or AAA ball at a minimum, but in your scenario would just be thrown to the wolves.
Since BBs don't count as ABs, then I'd still say under.

First, your question is flawed because if you placed

|
a person onto a team as an every day DH, he would not play 160 games due to interleague play. hth
Second, I would reach base a lot more than 20 times because I'd crowd the plate and get hit a lot.

especially if you're kind of fast. I can imagine you could become a decent bunter at very least by the allstar break.

At least the major league players can contact with it.

I'm willing to bet most people would whiff the ball trying to bunt it when pitched by a major league pitcher.

but let them go through half a season of practices and games (and spring training if that's included in this scenario) and I think anybody with decent eyesight and reaction time could learn it.
