The only fair

Oct 30, 2019, 10:51 AM

Way to compensate student athletes is to have a fund set aside by the NCAA that requires any participating school to deposit a required amount of money into this fund to be managed by an investment firm and paid to each player the same agreed upon amount. They may chose to do this upon graduation. If every athlete who participated in sports, male and female, got the same amount, it would be fair to all involved. That way the star quarterback at Stanford would get the same payment as the lady golfer from Michigan. This would not allow a player from a big time school to be rewarded more than an athlete from a smaller school as long as both schools paid in the same amount each year to the fund.

Just like they do it in the real world.***

It’s not a question of life being unfair. It’s a question of potentially destroying the team concept of sports.

LOL! I thought for sure you were going to say it wasn't

Its amazing how this board, which skews very conservative, is all of the sudden worried about some people making more than others and everything needs to be balanced and fair now.

Nah, there is something else at play here and its uproariously funny watching it play out and ignored.

Isn't this whole issue wrapped up in the idea that athletes, particularly superstar athletes, bring millions into the schools and get nothing from it? If that's the case, how is giving the QB at Clemson the same money you give someone on the golf team at Michigan solve anything? Won't you still have star football players clamoring that they aren't getting what the deserve? Don't get me wrong, I don't think they should get anything more than they get right now, which is a small stipend and FREE education. I just think the idea of allowing them to capitalize on their likeness necessarily means some will get much and most will get nothing.

Forest I hear ya , but realistically all this thing will do will be to reintroduce heavy petting and pocket greasing by the boosters and bag men .
It actually facilitates cheating in a way .
