The SEC Week 1 Dumpster Fire

Sep 6, 2016, 11:17 AM

Imagine if the ACC had had that performance? How much mockery would we get in the media?

Undoubtedly, Bama and Georgia had impressive performances. And Texas A&M had a solid win. But then...

SC and Vandy both looked undisciplined and weak in their in-conference slap fight.

Auburn surprised, but still lost at home.

Ole Miss, a top 11 team, lost to FSU.

Mizzou got pounded at WVU.

Miss State lost AT HOME to South Alabama.

LSU, a top ten team, lost to unranked Wisconsin.

Arkansas beat La Tech at home by one point. They were trailing going into the 4th quarter.

Florida beat UMass, which has been ranked by some as the worst team in 1-A, at home. But UMass had the ball going into the 4th quarter only down by 3.

Tennessee needed overtime AT HOME to beat App State.

Kentucky blew a 25 point lead, AT HOME, to lose by nine to Southern Miss.

I mean...that is just awful.

I know conference pride is not a big seller with Clemson fans, but the modern era of college sports broadcasting is so narrative and agenda driven, it really interferes with my ability to just watch a good game. Everything is "SEC speed" and "SEC quality". I'm so sick of it, and I very much enjoyed them falling on their collective faces. I will be happy if VT can take Tennessee this weekend.

willing to push it at all costs. Whatever happened to unbiased reporting? I suppose it died with the newspapers and the newspaper man!

saying, "but it's just one week".

and most telling....

$CU is currently a touchdown underdog to a team that just lost AT HOME to South Alabama.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Who really cares about USUC and Vandy? Vandy loses to everyone. USUC lost to Citadel. The SEC has one elite team, Bama.
