Fox sports reporter and San Jose Mercury writer Dieter Kurtenbach declaring that the end of college football as we know it is here! Players asking for their slice of the pie is more than the sport can handle. I’m not sure I can argue with him on that.

Hard to totally disagree with that. I honestly think I would prefer to keep the student athlete model (play for an education, the experience, the support, the lifestyle, etc), even if the level of play dropped significantly, and there was a "professional" alternative for those that wanted to pursue it. The lines are so blurry already. I think making them more blurry (pay to play) would make the situation even worse. My son was an athlete at a D2 school. His events (not football) and the other sports were fun to watch. We will have a top notch gameday experience no matter what. Is is an interesting topic with no easy, clear cut answers.

Without question you are correct. If every team is playing by the same rules the game will not be tarnished. Let the future nfl guys go on to the pros if they will have them. Otherwise, accept your scholarship and the few perks and enjoy college life. Don’t give the players the platform to air their demands.
