not a csb...

Nov 9, 2014, 8:40 AM

I made a big pot of veggie soup last evening, turned it off about 8:30 waiting for it to cool so I could divide into bowls. Well, I fell asleep watching a movie and was woke at about midnight by the sound of my smoke detector.

I apparently hadn't got the button completely to the off position and my soup had cooked all the broth out and was now burning the vegetables. Just about the whole house was full of smoke.

That was a scary feeling to wake up to, just glad it was burning food smoke and not fire smoke.

the other scary thing; my smoke detector in my den (where I was sleeping on the couch) didnt go off, the smoke had to travel down my hall to reach another one .

I put new batteries in both just last week with the time change,I switch batteries this morning and rechecked with cigarette NOTHING..so guess what

I've already been to Walmart this AM and bought a new smoke detector.

Sorry for your loss

A good pot of soup is a terrible thing to lose.

Glad you're ok

I was going to make a pot of veggie soup today also.

wife82tiger uses them as a timer to let her know when whatever she is cooking is done.

the the exact same thing with stew a few weeks back, house smelled like crap for about three days.

Leave a bowl of vinegar out in the kitchen to help absorb the smell, yes this really works.

It might just be me, but...

my suggestion would be NOT to make a stew out of feces min the first place.

Test button only checks the electronics...

Only way to make sure it works is with actual smoke. You can use a candle that was just extinguished.
