I just can't shake the UDP

Mar 6, 2019, 10:22 AM

wife of wants to tear out the carpet and replace with hardwood.

Last house was all hardwood. I hate hardwood in living areas. Have tile in the bathrooms and hardwood in the kitchen now.

With two kids it's a lot louder. Sucks to get down on the floor and play with the kids.

Will probably end up replacing carpet in the front sitting room and formal dining room since it's that old polyester sandpaper carpet.

Would much rather have carpet.

And you're wallowing around on it playing with your kids who are little petri dishes all on their own.

You're nasty.

When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.

Mar 6, 2019, 10:37 AM

throw a freaking towel on that spill and it's gone

sweep up the crumbs from idiot kids putting more food on the floor than their mouths.

I'm a hybrid like dguar, everything downstairs is hardwood except tile bathrooms

upstairs is not used near as much and is still old carpet with brass knobs and #####. we are letting the kids grow up and ruin that carpet before replacing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So what do you have? Vinyl?

Mar 6, 2019, 10:37 AM [ in reply to You sound like a man who doesn't have five kids ]

I def don't want to be cleaning milk out of grout. Wood is the easiest thing to clean besides vinyl

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Grout is terrible, I'm going to replace all of the tile in

Mar 6, 2019, 10:46 AM

our master bathroom one day. We put carpet back in our bedroom like idiots and the dogs already have it looking like shid.

I would do the ceramic hardwoods throughout the house if it were up to me.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ceramic hardwoods?

Mar 6, 2019, 10:47 AM

the ones that still require grout?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should have thought through that a little more, but yes

Mar 6, 2019, 10:52 AM

Maybe it's just light colored grout I hate, impossible to keep clean. My sister has ceramic hardwoods that I doubt she's cleaned in a year and they still look new.

I pay somebody to clean the grout.

I'm SRSly torn on those. Hardwood 'looks' (kinda) + Tile

at least on main level....

I've got carpet upstairs (for now), and it disgusts me. Might as well go ahead and put brass doorknobs and 24" TV's up there to complete the whole vibe

Also have carpet in finished basement (for now)...this disgusts me less, because finished basement

Mar 6, 2019, 10:39 AM

You'll regret it in the long run. truss me

also since you gots kids get something with a high janka rating like hickory or an exotic wood like brazilian cherry or acacia

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Go wif the fake hardwood if you have kids.

Mar 6, 2019, 10:47 AM

We got some fake Brazilian Cherry wide plank boards and they lasted awesomely. Granted, they cost as much or more than some real hardwood flooring. Parents always had real hardwood floors and they looked like crap after a few years in heavy traffic areas.
