The story on the pizza receipt By JOHN WHITTLESat Apr 06 2019 5
(Photo: Ryan Bethea, 247Sports) The image of a $5 tip on a $1,966 pizza order by the South Carolina Gamecocks football team is accurate, but there was a "misunderstanding," which had nothing to do with the football coaching staff, that both the school and pizza joint have rectified.
TheBigSpur has confirmed with athletics director Ray Tanner on Saturday night, shortly before Tanner responded to a tweet from Papa John’s Cola, "...Thank you for working with us through this misunderstanding. …"
PJ Cola— Thank you for working with us through this misunderstanding. Go Gamecocks!! https://t.co/XHKrcdSG4A
“This afternoon we had a misunderstanding with an employee at @GamecocksOnline We have taken care of the issue. Over the years we have had a great relationship with @GamecocksOnline and we look forward to working with them in the future #gamecocks”

— Papa John's Cola (@papajohnscola) April 7, 2019 The story began Saturday afternoon when Rachel Gossett Vane posted on Facebook and Twitter: “The USC coaches order pizza for the players after the Black vs Red today. $1966.00 order, 2 drivers to deliver, their tip $5.00 for the drivers to split. My daughter was one of the driver, also a USC student paying her way through school!”

— Rachel Gossett Vane (@RGvane2b) April 6, 2019 5 COMMENTS TheBigSpur learned that an assistant on the football team’s nutrition staff signed for the pizzas, not a member of the Gamecocks football coaching staff. Copied from 247sports and Big Spur!!! lol!
The post was no longer visible on Vane’s Facebook page, but it was shared more than 800 times and had accumulated 1,000 comments. Her tweet, however, is still up.
