Don't have a grill, gonna be done in the oven.

Whatever you do, always give 100%.....unless it's donating blood

Bake with rub...sauce on side if needed

Feb 20, 2014, 10:36 AM

My rub consists of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, brown sugar, and coffee.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That sounds really good.

Feb 20, 2014, 10:40 AM

What does the coffee add to it? Sounds interesting.

A friends also advised a dash or two of liquid smoke before I put the rub on.

Just need to be careful with the liquid smoke

Feb 20, 2014, 10:43 AM

It can be overpowering. If you get a good smokey paprika you might be able to skip it. The coffee gives it a little bit of an earthy flavor that goes well with the brown sugar sweetness.

Pffffffft. Amateurs.

Thoroughly coat the ribs in cayenne pepper, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook. Just before done, liberally coat the ribs in wasabi and sriracha. Cook more. When done, chop up ghost peppers and liberally cover ribs, then eat. Wash down with kerosene. Have a lit match for dessert.

Carowinds. Always a treat to walk in there because they had a sample table. I think they've moved to downtown Fort Mill now. I've gotten a few sauces from them in the past and they're always good.

BBQ Ribs Recipe

Get baby back ribs from Sam’s or Wal-Mart or Fresh Market. Sams in the three pack are the best deal. About $30.

Rub: 1.5 parts Lowry’s seasoned salt, 1 part rubbed sage, 1 part oregano
(mix well with a spoon)

Sprinkle rub on both sides of each rack of ribs. (Apply rub evenly and don’t add too much.)
Wrap each rack twice tightly in aluminum foil. (Complete the second wrapping with the crease on the underside of the ribs)
Place wrapped racks in oven with a drip pan underneath. (Place ribs on rack with the undersides of the ribs / crease facing up in the oven – this holds the juice in and keeps it from dripping)
Bake on 230 for 3.5-4.5 hours depending on the size of the racks.
Remove racks from oven, unwrap, and cut in half before grilling.
Note – meat should pull up from the ends of the rib bones when tender.
Grill each rack on low heat until browned.
Add Sweet Baby Ray’s Original BBQ sauce and continue cooking until sauce is baked on.
Be careful on the grill because the sugar in the sauce can burn if it’s too hot.

Remove ribs from grill, cut and enjoy.
Serves 6-8 people.

I personally don't use foil if I'm going oven

Feb 20, 2014, 11:17 AM

I bake them on a drying rack placed on top of a sheet pan. I like a dryer, Memphis style rib.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if you want a simple, non-connoissuer rub recipe,

Feb 20, 2014, 11:32 AM

use 1 part brown sugar, 3 parts Emeril's Original Essence.

There's about 1.2 trillion dry rub recipes with all sorts of ingredients, but this is easy and good.

Just remember, low 'n slow in the oven
