The only thing that has ever made money for him is the marketing of his name. Almost every actual "business" he's started has bankrupted. He'd likely be flat broke if the Apprentice hadn't thrust him back into the spotlight, and he's well aware of that fact. Plus, not like this is a hard one to understand, but he's a narcissist, so he'd seek out the spotlight and attention even if it didn't make him money. He loves having worshipers, like most high-level politicians and leaders. He'd clear more than all previous POTUSes combined in post-term speaking engagements--I could see him fleecing a billion dollars off his followers over the next decade.
