Teacher asked: Why do 1st Responders have to work in Covid19 conditions & not Teachers?
Jul 24, 2020, 1:41 PM

Guess my answer would be: Children.
But, considering how low a % of deaths involve K-16 grade aged students (includes college), maybe it’s time to listen to the Covid Pros & get’em back to school.
My 12 & 16 yr old grands want to return since tired of online teaching & miss friends.

But then again, I think maybe that's giving too much credit here.
Comparing teachers and first responders is like comparing the rum in your hand with the stick that's up my ###.
I don't think people are doubting the data on the kids. I'm sure though that many (some of which hang bicycles on the grill of their vans) don't, or more likely simply refuse, to understand that it could put teachers, faculty, and parents at risk. This by way of transfer from the kid.
Get your magnifying glass out and see if you can find the POLITICS and RELIGION board. Post your dumb politics there.
If you have any photos of nekkid tiddies, put them in the Lounge.

Tell the teacher...

If first responders could save people from home using internet services, they would gladly take that option rather than put their health and possibly life at risk. But it just doesn’t work that way.
It’s really logical if you stop and give it some considerable thought. I wonder more... who’s really generating all of these illogical questions and information on social media?

I TD’d you without thinking; my finger didn’t like your tone..
Consider this: teachers might be woosies while students might not be.
Oh, heard on recently (you guessed it) Rush Show that average age of teachers is 40.

I love you man. But it does seem that politics and this Covid stuff is weighing heavy on your mind as of late. As I’m sure it is on the minds of most people around the world. I think that the fact that it is a worldwide issue really shows how much we should be concerned. Not overly concerned... But maybe, just the right amount concerned. I actually do believe that the media often exaggerates much of what they report. But we have to look around and see what reality we actually face. Social media and news stories tend to exaggerate for clicks and likes. But honestly most healthcare workers are no longer downplaying this pandemic’s impact. It has nothing to do with money for “employees” of healthcare giants. They see the patients. They have to limit family visitors for “end of life” patients. Imagine telling a family of 7 that only half of you get to be with momma when she passes. Hospital beds are indeed filling up. First responders worry if their PPE is enough when they are picking up an extremely sick “respiratory related illness” patient. Support staff go into the rooms of extremely sick patients to fix their sink, because the nurses won’t go in without a way to wash their hands, and then they worry about how safe they really are while they are with that patient. What if they track it home on their shoes? What if they are infected already but don’t know it? Is this cough from Covid19 or acid reflux? What if I help spread a message about an illness not being anything to worry about, but in the end millions of people end up dying from it? Am I in any way responsible for the lives lost, if anyone believed the propaganda that I helped spread. I hope not. Because I helped spread my own sarcastic rhetoric when this all started. It seems that, until it happens to them or their family personally, many people today won’t understand. We’ve lost empathy for our fellow man these days. Largely in part, to the lies that we’ve been manipulated by. But if we could all step back, take a deep breathe, and search for the truth with our heart... then maybe we will see the importance in protecting our fellow man. And maybe we’d be a little more discerning when we read a news story that lacks that “ring of truth”. And maybe we’d care a little bit more about posting our message in the correct forum. We love you bill. Maybe it’s time you love the Lounge back. Post in the correct forum please.

So between 22 and 65? You and Rush may not understand stats, but I'm not sure how the average age of teachers is meaningful.

Teens and 20-somethings are the highest spreaders

Children under 9yo do not easily spread covid to adults, even in the same household. Those numbers skyrocket and more than double for teens. I say open elementary schools, but the rest should be online. Just what the science says anyway. And from personal experience, it's very hard to have both parents in a hospital/icu (or dead) at the same time. Kinda negates the benefit of going back really. Your 12 and 16yo will spread covid just as effectively as a full adult. If you have a 5-8yo, much less risk.
https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/10/20-1315_articleContact Tracing during Coronavirus Disease Outbreak, South Korea, 2020 We analyzed reports for 59,073 contacts of 5,706 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) index patients reported in South Korea during January 20–March 27, 2020. Of 10,592 household contacts, 11.8% had COVID-19. Of 48,481 nonhousehold contacts, 1.9% had COVID-19. Use of personal protective measures and social distancing reduces the likelihood of transmission.

paying Sean Hannity to read it to him as a night-night story.
Otherwise no chance. He can't even read the words POLITICS AND RELIGION.
