F'in Hertz rental car..call them to make sure the reservation I placed a week ago is there to drive to ATL for work is there... "Well we have one smaller than what you reserved..will a Ford Focus work"?
Eff no a Ford focus won't work to ride in 5 hours one way

We get a good negotiated rate, but the point is, as an Avis Preferred member, they show me the car they have reserved for me then I can either confirm or change. If you reload the "change vehicle" page in the App enough, some of the nicer cars start to pop in at no upgrade fees.
Last week I drove around in a Mustang 5.0 convertible at the midsize, $38/day rate.
This week I took the Impala, also at the midsize, $38/day rate.
Does Hertz offer the same type of choices if you're a Gold-whatever member?

They "ran out of cars" and wanted to charge me the same thing for a shitbox of a car. I told them to cancel it, called our corporate travel indians and they got the car I was supposed to get at the airport. Cost $24 to get to the airport via lyft.
And then I had to drive though some town "wagener" today to get here. That place is both sad and scary at the same time.
