So what was the deal with the "spike time out"

On Louisville's last drive? I was in the stadium, and didn't realize see this as it was happening...only became aware of it when I watched the replay today.

did not restart the play clock and the entire offense went to the sideline like it was a timeout, though no timout was called.

Both sides seemd to believe that stopping the clock created a timeout, and I thought Clemson had called their last, but that wasn't the case.

If the play clock had started when the ball was spotted, L'ville would definately had a delay of game.

I'm not sure who the non-timeout timeout helped more though. We had opportunity to ste up the best defense for BP's tendencies. So it's a moot point.

Actually the 40 started immediately and ran down to 6 and then the ref had the clock operator reset it to 25....
