So what does KBs departure do for recruiting QBs?

Sep 26, 2018, 4:05 PM

I can see where it's going to be hard to recruit elite level QBs for the next year or two with Lawrence potentially having the starting role on lockdown. I know we've got Taisun P. committed for 2018 cycle. Does the departure of 3 QBs in a year put us in a position to now have to scramble to pick up another in 2018 as well as 2019? If our program is still performing at this level for the 2020 cycle, we should be in prime position to ###### up another 5 star with the starting job coming open.

Don't you think there is another 5 star out there with enough confidence to think he can beat out Trevor Lawrence?

It could do the opposite and actually encourage a really talented player to sign with Clemson since they know that the opportunity to 'win' the starter job is entirely in their hands if they are up to the challenge.

So, if a player is considering Clemson but thinks they aren't as good as TL, then they've already beat themselves out of the job and most likely won't want to sign anyways (more self-fulfilling prophecy).

But I don't think this recent series of events would discourage a talented player that has a really competitive mindset from accepting the challenge of battling it out for playtime.

Unless they read TNet.

TP is actually 2019 cycle. TL was 2018.

Need to bring in another QB for 2019. Doesn't need to be a superstar.
There is a superstar in California in the 2020 class giving us a hard look.

Very little...TL will be the starter for 3 years. We will likely get no major 5* QB for 2 more years due to that, but will likely have one as a freshman in T-Law's junior year ready to take the helm. He will most likely not have the talent of DW4 or T-Law whom are considered once in a generation type QB's. It is actually amazing that Clemson has gotten 2 of them in a short amount of time. I feel for KB having been a 4* recruit that was between 2 5* recruits.
