We did. Kicker just pooped the bed.

I think it was intentional. Refs are never looking for it because it never happens.

Sure we knew it, but just tried to get by with it. The onside kick is so un-common at this point in a ball game that the refs are usually not watching it. Not bouncing the ball allows precision placement of the ball. After the bounce, it kind of goes where it wants to.

Not sure. Maybe if it caught their guy off guard enough then he wouldn't have been near it and that's what they were hoping.

So if we caught the ball first and had possession before contact with the sc player why a penalty?

Receiving team has to have "un-hindered" opportunity to field the ball.

Because he ran right into the Carolina guy to catch it.

He called fair catch

He is allowed to catch the ball after calling fair catch

The ball has to hit the ground or a return team player to be a live ball. We grabbed it before either of those happened. The kicker was supposed to topspin the ball into the turf but he hit it fat.

If SCAR player releases deep, that's a great play.

No interference then.

Okay.. if its the rule then its the rule. You would think though that our kicker would have been educated on it before the play if you are going to call a gutsy call like that. If the refs got it right, then good job by them.
