Sirius question. I thought new rules said hiring a family member of a recruit

Jul 29, 2017, 12:37 PM

Was now a violation. Did I misunderstand this? I get Henry's dad is a legitimate coach but if he was hired and KJ signed there I thought it was against the rules now. Thoughts?

Like you mentioned... Legitimate Coach

I believe as long as they are hired as one of the restricted number of coaching positions, then it's okay. What's not allowed is to have a parent hired as merely in an administrative or "supporting" position. I'm not 100% that I'm correct, but I'm pretty sure that's right.

to be fair it would be hard to completely keep them out of it as there are alot

Of coaches and their sons in the business and a lot of people would probably like to be with their dad.

Well... Not whatever it takes, but whatever it takes without worrying about sanctions

Well the new NCAA rules indicate that you can't hire a HS Coach who is a family member of the potential recruit for 2 years before the signing until 2 years after the recruit has signed.
But there are a butt-load of exceptions.
USuC is so desperate to land good recruits that I look for them to have a coaching staff explosion.
Not sure what job that Muffcramp offered to KJ's father or if that rumor even has any validity to it.
